Trek to Kumaraparvata

Hi Everyone...

I am starting this blog with a sad feeling.. you will come to know why its sad later..
So on 24th January my friend informed me that we all are going to kumaraparvata, I said i will not come. on 26th January we all met and they were successful in convincing for the trek. Finally I had to agree without a choice. Usually i do a bit of research before going to any trip but this time i didnt. I thought this would be another normal trip and nothing special about it.. Let me come to the point very quickly..
We were informed to assemble at my friends place to collect our tents, sleeping bag and Mat ofcourse the plan was to stay at the peak and then come back next day morning. So I collected mine and we left to Majestic to board the bus. I forgot to have my dinner and my stomach started a bit of trouble so I dumped my luggage in the bus and went to eat something, luckily I found masalapoori stall so started eating and then I had a glass of masala butter milk it was tasty. By the time I could finish this I saw our bus started to move then quickly I called my friend and he asked me to run and chase the bus and get in.. i dont think i had much option this time so I ran for about 200 - 300 Mts finally got into bus and I joined my friends to the trip.

We reached Kukke subrahmanya at 5:30 AM approx.. we brushed our teeth, finished our dialy routine stuff and we had breakfast and started to trek at around 8:30AM towards bhattara mane. Initially I thought bhattara mane is the starting point of the trek from there we need to trek for about 6Kms..that is true but getting to bhattara mane is another 6.5Km in the middle of the forest. Which I did not know...
When I started to trek I started to feel the pain 1. I had too many stuff in the bag 2. I realized that I had no stamina. Only option for me is to take stops and then climb.. all my friends started to trek real fast I was left behind every one.. One of my friend (Vasu) is the only guy who stood with me till I reached bhattara mane. He shared my pain a little bit. Thank you very much Vasu.
So finally somehow I managed to reach bhattara mane at around 11:30AM. We had nice food and bath, refreshed ourselves and left bhattara mane at around 2:30PM. Now the real story starts read on.....

I realized that I am the one who will be left behind so i managed to leave all my luggage at bhattara mane and started earlier than the others, well my other friend wanted to take few snaps so i had to wait for everyone to come. Finally everyone left bhattaramane same time. I decided this time no matter what happens I should reach the place and I need to cut down stopping. So I started with full of energy.. this time it was Pradeep who was with me for a little while... Somehow I managed to reach Kallina Mantapa and I stopped there for few mins in the course I slept (that was a shocker to me also) I slept in the middle of the trek :-(. When I woke up it was 3:30PM I realized all my friends are gone long way and I have to reach as soon as possible. I started again and I think I walked for about 2 Kms and my body started to give problems even a single step has become a giant leap... after walking for some distance I saw Pradeep and I waved at him and told him that I cannot walk anymore.. probably he didnt hear I think and I had no energy left in me to take another step I fell down.. fellow trekkers helped me with some glucose and water.. now the time was 6:00PM.. they said to reach the peak it is another 1:30mins by the time I reach it will be dark hence they suggested me to stay with them. I was not sure what to do... suddenly I saw few people with torch light trekking towards the peak point..so I partnered with them I asked them if I can join them.. they said yes.. I was happy.. started again to trek.. after walking for about 0.5 km we found a plain land.

Everyone in that team stopped they said it is going to be dark until we go the peak also the way is not smooth we wont be able to trek with torch.. so everyone decided to stay there..I had no choice.. They said they will share food i said okay thats fine..they had rice pickles, chatnipudi and buttermilk. So we started to cook with the campfire I helped them in saving water as the water source was less. We managed to cook rice.. and had dinner with pickles and chatnipudi and buttermilk.

Let me write about the people whom I met.. they were 8 people all of them are studying engineering 2nd semester studying in different colleges.. they studied together in a Pre-University college in mangalore.... As soon as they came to know that I am working they started the usual questions about getting into a job etc etc etc.. I gave them only positive things... Now the time is to decide who is going to share the tent with me.. because I had no blanket and it was very cold..they helped me put the tent.. and one of them had an extra jacket which I wore while sleeping and then he shared blanket with me.. They were very courteous and professional they never asked me to help them but I did help them in preparing the campfire and cooking.

We woke up at around 5:30AM and we were unable to stand because of the wind.. so we again setup campfire and with great struggle we managed to fold the tent and were ready to go down to bhattara mane.. around 7:30AM I saw my gang of boys coming down to bhattara mane so I waited for them and I joined them...

After all this it was pretty smooth i must say.. although there were few difficulties I managed to reach down safely and we went Kukke Subrahmanya temple and back to bangalore.

The only saddest thing in the whole trip is all my friends managed to reach the top except me.. This is the saddest of them all.. other than this the trip was excellent a unique experience of my life.. Now you will know why I started the blog with a sad note...
